Stephenie Jolita Smith a.k.a Quelii was born May 19, 1951 in San Diego, CA and passed away July 5, 2011. Her mother; Dorothy Mae Alexander-Johnson-Currie and father; Charles Earnest Smith preceded her in death.
Stephenie was raised in San Jose, CA. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School and San Jose State College. She also attended and graduated from Business College. Stephenie was a computer programmer analyst, an entrepreneur, and a community activist.
Stephenie accepted Christ at an early age and was raised in Antioch Baptist Church in San Jose. She also attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She presently attended St. Mark's Baptist Church.
Stephenie believed in serving her community. She served the following organizations in the East Palo Alto / Menlo Park communities: EPA HAS, Collard Green Festival, C.O.P.E, California Black Chamber of Commerce, Community Together, T.R.U.C.E, Community Christmas in the Snow, The Juneteenth Festivals, The Harriet Tubman House, Cultural Kaleidoscope. Stephenie was the proprietor of Stephenie's Fish Market and Down Home Kitchen of East Palo Alto.
She leaves to mourn: her daughter Sydney Smith Daniel of Las Vegas, two grand daughters; Omarriya Burnett , Sydneia Holmes, one grand son; Omar Burnett Jr, four sisters and four brothers; Alesia K. Grandy of San Jose, Michael T. Johnson of San Jose, Rhonda L. Johnson-Bailey of San Jose, Farris K. Johnson of San Jose, La Triece Hall-Penns of San Jose, Connie Smith-Williams of Los Angeles, Mark Smith of Los Angeles, Steve Smith of Los Angeles, one aunt; Charlene Alexander of Seattle, WA, one uncle; John King of San Jose, two God-Daughters; Shani Roberts of San Jose and Rionia Hall of San Jose, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and close friends.
