California’s new open primary system had its first workout during the election today. The new system allows the top two winning candidates to go on to the general election this November. So, voters will now have more choices, with more names on the ballot.

The early returns from today's election, tabulated just before midnight, show that San Mateo County voters, under this new system, will have the following candidates on the ballot in November:

President of the United States (DEM) - who was uncontested in the race
BARACK OBAMA (100.00%) *

MITT ROMNEY (78,23%)
RON PAUL (12.27%)

DIANNE FEINSTEIN (71.70%) *

DEBORAH (DEBBIE) BACIGALUPI (22.08%) *

JERRY HILL (58.70%) *
SALLY J. LIEBER (17.64%) *

24th Assembly District
