On February 9, 2011, The East Palo Alto Police Department arrested Green Oaks Academy Kindergarten Teacher Jose Suarez Cerezo (45 Years Old) for allegedly molesting a student.

The Green Oaks Academy, upon learning of an allegation of Cerezo inappropriately touching a student, immediately called the East Palo Alto Police Department. The East Palo Alto Police Department began the investigation by bringing

the victim to the Keller Center for a Forensic Interview. The Ravenswood School District immediately removed Cerezo from his classroom and placed him on administrative leave.

During the course of the investigation, Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Detectives learned:

Cerezo is a foreign national from Spain and posed a flight risk

After being placed on administrative leave, Cerezo called the victim's family and offered a large sum of money in exchange for not pressing charges

Cerezo had the financial ability to carry through with the offer

Based upon facts learned from the interview, investigation, and search warrant of Cerezo's home, the East Palo Alto Police Department sought and obtained a $500,000 arrest warrant for Cerezo. CID Detectives were unable to locate or contact Cerezo after he was placed on leave.

Upon obtaining a warrant for Cerezo's arrest, the East Palo Alto Police Department requested and received the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Office and the U.S. Department of State's, Diplomatic Security Service to locate and arrest Cerezo.

The U.S. Marshal's Service San Francisco Office, Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force (PSWRTF) adopted the case and in collaboration with the San Francisco Police Fugitive Recovery Enforcement Team (FRET) located and arrested Cerezo in San Francisco within a day.

East Palo Alto Police Criminal Investigations Division is still actively investigating this case therefore further details are being withheld from release.
