                         Shooting Investigation
                           


On April 02, 2009 at approximately 08:47 P.M., East Palo Alto Police Officers were alerted to gunfire by means of a ShotSpotter activation. The ShotSpotter system detected approximately 15 gunshots on the 2300 block of Clarke Avenue. The East Palo Alto Police Communications Center also received reports of a shooting on the 2300 block of Clarke Avenue.

East Palo Alto Police Officers responded to the 2300 block of Clarke Avenue and located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower back. A second victim was also located in the parking lot of 1798 Bay Road. This particular victim suffered from a gunshot wound to his leg and was on the 2300 block of Clarke Avenue when he was shot. After being shot in the leg, this victim ran to the parking lot of 1798 Bay Road.

The victims were subsequently transported to a local hospital emergency room where they were both listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. The victims were identified as Ronald Bradford, a 34 year old Union City, CA resident and Johnny Florence Jr., a 29 year old Menlo Park, CA resident. Detectives from the East Palo Alto Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating this matter and are attempting to develop leads and a motive for the shooting.
